The first day of counseling is difficult. There is the uncertainty of what to expect along with the feeling of vulnerability towards your inner most self being exposed to a complete stranger.  All of which is completely normal, what matters is that you took the first step towards bettering your outlook on life.  The first session we will discuss general topics such as scheduling, logistics of the office, phone numbers and ways to contact me, as well as going over the paperwork necessary to file.  Confidentiality will be discussed and disclosures will be explained along with limitations of each of the terms.  The sessions are scheduled in 50 minute increments and due to scheduling purposes, the session length will be strictly enforced unless otherwise discussed prior to the sessions.  Other than that, congratulations on taking the first step towards better mental health.
